Bruno Mars and Sexyy Red came out with a new single and music video that tickles my ears and brings tears to my eyes. The music video is simple and fun because both of those two have so much swag that it just carries the vibe throughout the scenes. Lyrics be cray tho.
I’ve seen The Brutalist *twice* in IMAX and plan to watch it again at least one more time. See my full review here.
Currently reading The Brothers Karamazov, a book I’m quickly loving though slowly digesting because of the confusing nicknames. Unrelated, my favorite drag queen is Katya, a Russian whore. Her verse immediately made me think of Brothers K, so I made a Tiktok that went semi viral amongst literature fans. A venn diagram of my two worlds in one video. Enjoy my work of art.
Weekly Feature
Each week, I’ll be highlighting a creator/account/journalist/internet personality that I consistently enjoy-
This week it’s Tracey Helton Mitchell. She’s on Tiktok, Youtube, and Instagram. She was once a heroin addict, incarcerated, and a homeless person in San Francisco who then went on to graduate not only with a Bachelor’s degree but a Master’s degree as well. She is also an author of the book “The Big Fix” and mother to two teens. She’s been sober for 26 years. Her experience is unique because her heroin addiction and homelessness was documented heavily on “Black Tar Heroin: The Dark End of the Street,” a 1999 HBO documentary about San Francisco heroin addicts. She rewatches some of these documentaries in her content and talks about the reality- “I lied, I wasn’t sober. Jail was where my mom thought I was safest…” etc. Her voice is calming and her approach is comforting- care and resources. I’ve learned so much from her daily candor. It inspires *me* to keep thriving against all odds and also gives me hope for my community of homeless people in my area.

Dance Video
Father Figure by George Michael is going viral thanks to that scene in Babygirl. A song I sang so passionately as a child with utmost innocence. It’s virality is due mainly to edits of musicians dancing slow motion. Feast thine eyes and ears.
